Stevie Phillips Persinger, a Chattanooga native, received her J.D., cum laude, from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 2008 where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy. Mrs. Phillips Persinger holds a B.A. in History and Spanish, summa cum laude, Valedictorian, from Loyola University New Orleans.
After law school, Mrs. Phillips Persinger accepted clerkships with Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Janice M. Holder and later with Judge Bernice B. Donald in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Mrs. Phillips also assisted with cases before the Sixth Circuit when Judge Donald sat with that Court by designation.
Mrs. Phillips Persinger has contributed to public and private organizations dedicated to advancing social justice locally and abroad, including the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Amicus Committee and the American Bar Association Section on Individual Rights and Responsibilities.
In addition, in 2011, she traveled to Monrovia, Liberia to teach judicial opinion writing as a legal consultant with the International Law Institute.
Stevie Phillips Persinger is licensed in Tennessee and California. She is barred in United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
